Retail Store - Another close call
December 2009
Well,
I must say I'm glad to say "good bye" to 2009 and bring in the New
Year. December has been one heck of a month for us. We watched two very
good retail locations fall through our fingers. In both cases we
weren't the only interested parties, and both times lost out to other
business' for those locations.
But the search continues and if you know of any good locations, please send us an email at info@animefanzone.com or post in the Forums!
More
Anime Cons, oh my!!!
August
2009
To
say we've been busy over the past few months would be an
understatement. AFZ just returned from 3 weeks of cons in a row.
Fortunately the last two were close (Ikasucon and Anime Iowa).
Just
confirmed to our list are Youma Con in Michigan, Ohayo Con in Ohio,
Tokyo in Tulsa and Connecticon. More cons are being added as fast as we
can. Unfortunately some cons are very slow to get back to us and makes
the entire process very frustrating at times. But seeing as these are
mostly fan run events, its hard to complain too much. We thank them all
for their efforts and giving us a place to sell our merchandise.
AFZ
has also been actively searching for a brick and mortar location here
in Milwaukee and feel we are getting closer to that Grand Opening. We
really miss not having a store in Milwaukee for anime and arcade games
especially. Stay tuned to the website and join our forums to discuss!

New
Website, Full Time Business Owners!
June
2009
Finally
there's some decent content on this site and a much better looking
template. This is about the best I can do on my own and oddly enough
there will be yet another major update to the website coming shortly by
an actual web designer.
We are now Full Time with this
business!!! I finally left my full time day job this past month and
have been living the dream. That means I have more time to actually
update the site, make improvements and meaningful progress
towards
some of our bigger goals. Some of those goals include:
1) Adding an online ordering site
2) Opening our retail store in Milwaukee
3) Putting more content and functionality to this website
Our
forums are now up and functioning. Please sign up Milwaukee and let's
show the world how many anime fans we have in Wisconsin! With your help
an entire community will come together and allow your voices to be
heard.

Anime
Con Updates
June
2009
We've
been on the road quite a bit as of late and plenty of stories to tell.
Stay tuned to the website for pics and videos of our con travels.
We
just got back from Anime Mid-Atlantic out in Virgina. Quite the show
and loved the location this con is held at. Apparantly it's the same
building as Neko-con. Didn't see much of the con unfortunately but we
got to take a day to visit Washington DC and dipped our toes in the
Atlantic Ocean!
Prior to that we went to Sandusky, Ohio for
Colossal Con. A very nice resort with the Kalahari and I highly
recommend it if you get the chance. There's one in the Wisconsin Dells
if you are interested. The con was a bit smaller than last year (3000
attendees), but with a great location it made it all worth it. The
vendor room was very small and cramped, but we survived and plan on
coming back again next year.

Acen and Other News
April 2009
Wow
have we been busy over the past couple months. Life is just flying by
and I can't believe this website still looks like crap. That is one of
my next major goals by the way.
We'll be at Anime Central in a
few days, providing arcade games and in the Vendor's Room. Please stop
on by and say hello as this con is a "local" event for Milwaukee and
the Midwest's largest anime con.
Tekkoshocon was a blast in
Pittsburg!!! Definitely going back to that one if possible. Never knew
Pittsburgh was built on the side of a mountain range. It was a drift
racer's paradise there, too bad I don't have an AE86 -_-; from Initial
D.
Anime Punch on the other hand was a horrible con in Columbus, OH. I
cannot stress this enough, NEVER
GO TO THIS CON!!!!
It was just horrible in almost every way possible. The Dealer's were in
a fricking tent outside with no heat and poor lighting. Plus it was
over Easter and their attendance just tanked really bad. Needless to
say I was lucky to have just come out of that con without losing
money... Plus, to top it all off, it's run by one of the guys that does
the "Your Favorite Anime Sucks" panel, which is oddly very popular at
anime cons. At least that guy has 1 skill worth mentioning...

Naka-con & Updates
March 2009
We just
returned from Naka-con
over this past weekend! Had a total blast, sold a ton of stuff and
looking forward to our next con! We are really starting to dig this con
travelling stuff, as it's way more fun than having a day job and who
doesn't want to go out of town for an anime con? Seriously, who would
say no to such a thing?
We are lining up more cons for the next couple of months and beyond.
Check out the Conventions
link
for more info on where we are going next. In the meanwhile, expect to
see many website updates, a total makeover on the website and a way
to order from us online soon.

can say to recap the weekend! We beat all our sales goals and thank you
all for your support. We are looking forward to our next con in Kansas
City, MS in two short weeks.
